Bowl fills over time. Then, fills black water tank

Microphor LF220 toilet. Microflush Half Gallon toilet model 220 12v DC. We purchased a 2001 Country Coach Affinity with 95k miles. We noticed black water filling on way home. We found the bowl fills. Then, it fills black water tank via overflow ports in bowl. We need to know what the problem is. Somebody suggested a worn ‘cam’.

  • Hi there Ted,

    If the water doesn't shut off when it is supposed to, it is either due to your solenoid or your timer assembly.
    To determine which of these components is at fault, perform the following simple test:

    First of all, don't fret. This an easy test.

    1)Locate the solenoid. It will have two blue wires connected to it.

    2)Locate the timer. It will have several wires colored wires going to it and coming from it, e.g., red, blue, white, black, etc.

    3) Flush the toilet. While water is running into bowl, pull either of the two blue wires off of the solenoid--it doesn't matter which blue wire. Once the blue wire has been pulled, there are two possible outcomes:

    A) Your water will stop entering the bowl

    or

    B) The water will continue entering the bowl.

    4) Plug blue wire back into the solenoid and repeat test to confirm results. After confirming results, see associated solutions below.

    If you found that A) your water stopped running into the bowl once you pulled one of the blue wires from the solenoid, then your timer is at fault. The solution here is to replace your timer as this is an item that cannot be serviced.

    If you found that B) your water continued to run into the bowl after you pulled one of the two blue wires off of the solenoid, then your solenoid is at fault.* Solutions are as follows:

    -Disassemble solenoid and clean diaphragm in case a bit of debris is preventing the solenoid from closing when it tries to.
    -Purchase and install solenoid service kit, P/N 40037 to replace the three wearable parts within the solenoid assembly.
    -If your solenoid has failed in its electromagnetic half as opposed to its diaphragm/"plunger" half, then you will need to purchase a replacement solenoid, P/N 89134-3.
