How it works:
Spurs Line Cutter Systems leverages the propeller’s rotational force and inertia to drive cutting action. When a problematic line enters the propeller’s vortex, it is drawn towards the hub. (Note: Without Spurs, this is where the line could tightly wind, risking damage between the hub and rope guard.) Instead, it encounters rotating cutter blades that guide it to a stationary cutter blade.
The sudden resistance triggers a cam action in the stationary cutter, pushing it outward to meet the rotating blade and sever the obstruction. This shearing action escalates with resistance but ensures the cutting blades never collide.
Hydrophilic and bronze bearings maintain precise cutter positioning during resistance. With each rotation, the blades pass each other smoothly, preventing surface wear. Additionally, the stationary cutter consistently centers itself in the guides with every revolution.
